Honda Civic 10th gen Oil change and transmission fluid change 20171106_145622

Oil change Tools:
17 mm wrench
Flat tip screwdriver
Cross tip screwdriver

Not going to go over things like jacks, Jack stands, oil filter wrench, drain pan,oil and oil filter, because those are known items etc....

Remove the aluminium pan under the car, covering engine. There are 6 each 1/4 turn, flat head screws and 2 each cross tip screws you need to remove to expose the oil filter and the oil drain plug.

17mm wrench on the drain plug.
Tranny fluid(this is in conjuntion
With oil change)
Tools,
10mm socket
about 11 inches of 3/8" extension(s)
Cross tip screwdriver

You must remove the air intake box, to access the fill plug.
Remove 4 each 10mm bolts securing the box to bay. One is at the back, by the battery, the other 3 are on the right bottom front of intake.

This is what the bottom of the Intake box looks like

Remove the rubber seal that surrounds intake aperture from front of car.

Remove the two nubs(tits) that are at the upper portion of Intake. Careful not to tear one like I did.

Remove clamps holding In Panel filter.
Loosen the intake hose going toward the intake piping of turbo.

Remove intake box housing.

Use 3/8" extensions to remove the filler bolt.(pointed at it with the big screwdriver)

Then remove the drain bolt under the car.(3/8" drive ratchet)

I used a pump for the Transmission fluid

I got the Oil and Transmission fluid from TJ Thompson. If you need some, or have questions, look him up.

I'm curious, is there still a point on the subframe on these cars where you can lift the entire front end when jacking?

Did you replace the washers or seals like it says on the write up or it was fine?

At what mileage are you guys doing your first oil change? I am about at 4.2k and thinking about getting it serviced.

You have active oil monitoring so the car will tell you when it’s time to change your oil.

I replaced them. The drain plug on the oil pan was a little loose. I honestly didn't think it even compressed the washer now that I think about it. Oh well, got a new one anyways. Piece of mind.

The manual shows 2.3 qt.

So there is only a fill plug on top and there isn't one from the side like most manual transmissions? I haven't crawled under my car yet.

Does anyone know if the drain plug has a magnet at the tip?

Secondly, what is the size of the plug (ie XXmm, not the 3/8 or 1/2 extension bit to remove the plug)?

Thanks in advance!

So - 2.3qt Transmission fluid and 5.7qt 0w20 oil? You should edit the original post to include quantities and a link to the right fluids. Is this the right transmission fluid?

https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-prod.../manual-synchromesh-transmission-fluid-5w-30/

Thanks for posting!
Yes, those are the correct capacities. And yes, that is the correct Amsoil fluid. I used the Amsoil for about 8k miles and just changed mine out with Redline MTL. The MTL is noticeably thinner. I have only driven the car around the neighborhood so I can't yet to report on the fluid comparison.
