@therealdarkknight are you saying that the mid-pipe is one piece with the entire exhaust system(excluding the downpipe)?

So can it be detached from the OEM exhaust system and a 3rd party mid-pipe attached to it?

No, it’s all one piece from the mid pipe back. The tips are tack welded onto the muffler piping

Downpipe is one piece and drops from the turbo to just in front of the oil pan. The mid pipe connects to the downpipe and goes under the motor and above the subframe just below the steering rack. The mid pipe connects right after the subframe and is 1 solid piece All the way back to the tips of the mufflers. If you replace your exhaust at a shop be prepared to transport it as it’s almost the full length of the car.

Thanks therealdarkknight..
Just a quick question - and anybody can answer this.. what are the 2 portions that are circled on the exhaust?
-Do they restrict airflow?
-If they do, can "anything" be done to it?
-Should anything be done to it...? (kinda looking for max power from the stock exhaust)

I believe that's the front & mid resonator, alot of owners do a resonator delete & if you wanna full send muffler delete also.

Just 2 quick questions..

1) So by implication, it does hinder airflow and rob horsepower?

2) Would the deleting of the resonators cause Drone?

Deleting the resonators will make your exhaust louder and introduce more drone into the cabin. It will not make any difference in power.
Changing the downpipe with a larger diameter high flow cat or catless downpipe will make a difference in power with a tuner and off the shelf or custom tune.
There are many threads that cover this, I would encourage you read around some to make an informed decision on your modifications. ??

The stock catback isn't really a restriction until you get beyond 400hp.
