Long story short, I needed new tires and last week had Firestone Firehawk Indy 500s installed.

Y'all, I knew the stock all seasons were bad, but did you guys know HOW BAD they are?

Sweet Lord, this is a whole new car. Did y'all have any idea how WELL these things can handle? Whew lad.

That's all.

I really want to get off the stock Eagle sport A/S. They're absolutely horrible when it’s raining hard too. They cant keep traction for shit.

Im actually a big fan of Continental tires, but Ive heard their high performance tires can be a little mushy on the sidewalls. Wish I could try out Michelin PS4S but i cant justify the price.

The Indy 500s seem to be a popular choice lately

With all my modifications I say that putting a decent set of summer tires is the best favor you can do to enjoy your Si ownership. If budget allows, change out those 28lbs each boat anchors too in favor of some lighter wheels, and that's when the Si really starts to impress!

I've got the Conti ExtremeContact Sport, and there is some roll on them but they ride well for a 18" 35 profile tire. Grip in all conditions, Dry or Wet is phenomenal!

For good reason!

They perform amazingly, and they are CHEAP. With a deal they were running when I had them installed I was out the door for $600 with all four mounted/balanced/alignment checked/road hazard warranty.

Anxiously waiting for my stock tires to wear out so I can justify a new set of Michelin - Pilot Sport A/S 3+s to the Mrs. 32k miles in; maybe 15k to go?
Ehhhhhh more like 30k to go lol. A/S season tires typically last 60k+ with a lot of highway driving. There is no shame in dumping the tires early though. A tire shop might give you a small discount on new tires if you trade them in.

I always laugh at how bad the stock tires are. I can lose traction just by flooring it in 2nd lol... Always funny to me.

It’s honestly scary driving on them in the rain. It’s one of the worst tires i’ve ever driven on. Even the Hankooks on the LX gave me more confidence driving in the rain.

Just bought 4 of these on TireRack for my IS 350 (255's for the back tires). Came out to $741 after a $100 mail-in rebate

For sure bro. With summer tires the car pulled a .97G on the skidpad. Any car that pull around a 1G turn has very good handling.

The stock tires are projected to have 80k  tread life according CR. Got a set for the wife's 1.5T Civic and after 20k miles, they're still at 7 to 8/32" tread depth (out of 9/32"). No complaints other than a little noisy. Will probably switch them out to Michelin or Firestone in a couple years. Will be able to sell them used (OfferUp or Craigslist) to recoup some $ at the rate they're lasting.
