Hello everyone. New here. I'm probably getting ahead of myself, but just got a 2019 Civic LX. The fuel range is at 335 miles, but the mpg average is supposedly 33mpg. I'm assuming it would actually be around 395 miles in a tank. Anyone know how the initial countdown to E is calculated?

But the miles to E isn't based on much at first. Does it recalculate when the tank is refilled using how much mileage was actually driven on the last fill up? Maybe the dealership didn't fill it up all the way before I drove off.

gotta stop racing mustangs..

actually they build a big buffer into the remaining miles.
some people are seeing 40 miles after the remaining is zero.
i know i have gone 25ish miles past zero.

Cool. Thank you! I'm sure at 30 miles driven so far it has nothing to go off of concerning my driving habits yet.
The dash is showing 39.9mpg so far. =]

When you fill up and reset, It's based on your last tank. It will adjust according to your driving after that.

That's definitely not true. I've gotten crazy good mpg immediately after buying the car and there have been a few times where it wasn't so good. My 2nd tank of gas got me 40mpg. I'm not the only one on here either.

I think once the indicator comes on 40 is right around the mark for average driving.

How are you getting 39? I’m getting 27 for city. Stupid low. I’m actually offended I’m not getting better mileage.
