Hey everyone,

This is really for those of us who have gone through a set of tires and have replaced these tires out of pocket.

What did you do about mounting and balancing? My local Honda dealer sends the wheels/tires down to the BMW dealership they also own where they charge $50 per wheel/tire to mount and balance.

Now, they do a great job and, so far, I haven't had to do anything other than wipe off the lube. At $200 to mount and balance a set of 4, it's not an insignificant cost and doing that annually isn't fun.

Most important is getting them on without ruining the wheel or tire but if I could get it done cheaper...why shouldn't I?

What experiences have you had? Any suggestions on who to see?

Thanks for the help to me and others-

I went to the local shop of a regional chain. Charged me $20 per... but I wasn't confident that they were super skilled. Told me they struggled with them. But it was done.

If you take it to the dealership, it will be more expensive than pretty much anywhere else.

It sure seems that way. NTB here can't handle them and there aren't a whole lot of options in the area...

I don't remember if my local NTB charged 20 per or 40 per.

I paid 100$ to mount and balance 4 new tires at a shop in Queens, NY.

This included removing old tires, mounting and balancing new tires and the tire disposal fee.

I hope to build a relationship with the dealer. Nothing is free. I just want long term great service. And I am sure the cost will be less that if I owed a luxury sedan as I have had in the past. Dealers are not cheap. But I am glad they are there for me. I am in it for the long term relationship. Yes, they need to make a profit. I only hope that profit comes with quality work. And I am sure the techs have to be well trained. I am sure they would not hire me off the street to work on their cars. That is a good thing. Some discount tire shops have high volume and do not balance wheel to acceptable tolerances. Get them in and get them out. Just my two cents.
