I am trying to upgrade my intercooler and found out that 27won is presently out of stock. The Mishimoto is cheaper when compared to PRL. Which one should I prefer out of PRL and MIshimoto? I was so inclined towards 27Won as I was following their development but didn't pull the trigger when they released the first batch

For me, it was a toss-up between PRL and 27Won. I decided to go with 27Won because I've been following the development for quite some time and liked how transparent 27Won was with development. With them also postponing the release to go back to the drawing board after running into some fitment issues, it speaks loudly on how they care about their products.

I did manage to get into 27Won's second FMIC batch and received my FMIC last Friday. Still haven't gotten a chance to install due to unprecedented work situations, but hopefully that changes in the next couple of days.

While I do not own the PRL FMIC, I would recommend it and I'm fairly certain many other forum members would say the same. Their products are also top-notch, as I own a PRL Cobra Street CAI, which I highly enjoy as well as recommend.

I was in the same dilemma as well. I was thinking about going w/ the 27WON IC until I found out their out of stock and I am a bit impatient and don't feel like waiting. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet on PRL's FMIC & Charge Pipes. Plus, if you ever decide later on down the line that you ever wanted PRL's big turbo kit, then you'd have to get their IC anyway (whereas the 27WON W1 turbo it won't matter which one you have).

@saiko21
They are ALL good choices.
I would say what it comes down to is the option(s) / kit(s) they are configurable in. Like the charge hoses in larger diameter etc. if you are sticking with the stock turbo, I would recommend staying with the stock charge piping diameter.
For example:
Opting for a Mishimoto you can obtain the IC as a stand alone and the PRL Silicone Charge Pipe Hose ugrade. That does away with the less resilient stock rubber hoses.

The end results would all be close to the same, biggest difference is the price paid.

I can just tell you from my experience, which was with a Mishimoto Performance Intercooler. It worked really well, and significantly cooled the charged air. For example, the ambient temp last summer was 103 degrees F, my IAT's were around 140 degrees F (on the hot side), and my IAT2 (cold side) would be somewhere around 113 degrees F to no more than 115 degrees F. So it worked really well over stock, where IAT2 would be around 125 thru 130 degrees F

EDIT

This was with the stock charge hose piping left in place. All I changed was the Intercooler

PRL intercooler here, really they’re all similar builds. It comes down to what you want showing on your car (“PRL” vs “M” vs “27won”), the color option of the black intercooler 27won offers and lastly the piping I feel like is the biggest difference. Can’t go wrong with either one though tbh. Just buy what fits your budget and what’s in stock really. I have had zero issues with the build quality of the PRL intercooler. At the time 27won hadn’t released theirs so they weren’t an option yet. So it was Mishimoto or PRL and because I loved the quality and design of the Cobra race CAI I went with PRL....and because I was able to pick it up in-person from evasive Motorsports without waiting for shipping. Also I believe (at the time not sure about now) the PRL tubing was slightly bigger than the Mishimoto’s. To this day though don’t regret my decision and still love my PRL intercooler.

PLM IC and piping here lol. No cores were welded shut. Similar specs to PRL as we all know. IAT2 drops like a rock when it’s under load so all in all does a fantastic job. Oh and $315 shipped for me as you just ask them for a sponsor deal lol.

@LilToTo17 How much drop in IAT? you said dropping like a rock but it would be better if you can give some number. I will check with them as $315 is quite cheaper

Update: Dude it's a crappy copy of PRL intercooler. I would rather spend more and wait for 27Won or PRL IC. It's better to stick with OEM rather than PLM IC

Yes. Please share your IAT1 / 2 differential and the ambient temp. That would be good for others to think about.

Here's a snip of a 3rd gear wot with it. Maybe shouldn't have said dropped like a rock but more like it stayed the same which means no heat soak.

Here's it afterwards where you can see IAT2 stays the same.

Ambient was 70 degrees at the time of this 3rd gear pull. PRL CAI Si Race is IAT1 and PLM IC with piping is IAT2. The point of an intercooler is to keep temps down or same during pulls otherwise city driving stop and go is useless for an upgraded intercooler.

Posted this on another forum but PRL numbers...

“I have the PRL intercooler (which is relatively the same in build) and the hondata app on the headunit so I am able to see temps , during spirited driving (which is where you’ll see most of the difference) you get about a 20-60° temp difference. During normal driving the numbers are much smaller since you are not pushing the car it’s about 5-30° difference. Of course it depends on outside temps, when I tested it, it was on separate days but the temps were Day1: 84°/Day2: 86° at the time. Our engine bays run HOT, I recommend heat wrapping the piping/tubing with those heat resistant tapes to lower temps. It’s only a small marginal difference but every degree temp dropped is a win in my book.”

Since we are all sharing @LilToTo17 ;), Here's a small snippet of IAT1 and IAT2 during a second gear pull (or coming off a pull to change gears). Ambient temp was around 103 degrees F. Mishimoto Performance IC, stock charge piping

I was probably in the middle of changing gears, which is why I wasn't boosting. I'll try and find the full datalog, IAT2's stayed around 113F and 115F while IAT1 was around 140F
