I noticed that my maintenance minder counts down depending on how many cold-starts that I make. Whether you drive one mile or 100 miles doesn't seem to make any difference.
This didn't used to be the case.
It used to be every three months or 3,000 miles, no matter how many cold starts you do. We went from how far you drive or a fixed time period to how many cold-starts you make that determines when your oil changes are done. You didn't need to be concerned about how many starts you made in the car before.
To save money on maintenance, do all of your errands in one trip, rather than spread out over many trips. Do your errands on the way home from work/school rather than go back out after arriving home. Remember, every time you cold-start the car, you are one start closer to needing a service.
