I heard this loud metal scraping noise only in reverse and steering wheel turned yesterday. What could it be? Pebble or rock stuck in the dust shield since the stick tires are rock magnets? Car is on stock tires and yesterday temperature was in the high 40's.

I've gotten that sound every once in awhile and others have said it was due to rocks or pebbles. If it is happening all of the time and not going away, go get it checked out. I have not had this reoccur in the past 500 miles, but I still anticipate it happening.

I have the same issue but it's only with the steering wheel turned full lock to the left in reverse. I'm on after market wheels though.

Update: I got this nasty noise at all time now. Waiting for the weather to get warmer so I can remove the wheel and take a look.

The shield next to the rotor is either hitting the rotor or something else. Take the wheel off, check it to make sure there's no rocks and/or bend it back slightly.

I believe it’s an issue with the OEM rotors as they get grooved and rocks get lodged in the dust shield. Used to get this noise all the time and it’s so annoying.

Have not had the issue after upgrading to Girodisc front rotors. Imagine Paragon would have similar results.

Can also try bending the dust shield.

Ouch that's ear piercing! Haven't heard that on ours yet; the rotors on our new-to-us 2020 CTR aren't looking too good either. Will have to get Honda to replace under warranty at 4k miles, these are grooved pretty bad.

Had a similar sound today. Got my first rock stuck and I’m at 4K miles on my 2021.

Pushed the shield back with my hand but still had the sound. Did a couple 60-0mph hard brake runs and went away.

Had the same problem a week ago, literally picked up my CTR brand new a week and a half ago with only 8 miles. There's a few things you can try to get rid of it,

1. Take the wheel off and see if you can find the rock/pebble between the rotor and dust shield and pick it out with a flathead screwdriver

2. Use a pressure washer from a local car wash and try to spray it out

3. Go to an empty street/parking lot and just drive forward and in reverse

I tried pressure washing mine out and had no luck, it ended up falling out on a drive home from work. Good Luck!

It's probably small stones between the shield and the brake disks. If you hear this sound try to drive a bit backwards and it should disappear.

Had this happen to me 2x and took it back to Honda, found had a pebble stuck behind heatshield....... - sounds like what you have. The noise was terrible but at last it was an easy fix. Since changing wheels its not happened again luckily.

Well documented issue. Almost always a rock. I have it all the time especially after winter and the sand and grit is all over the roads from winter. Or i end up going down a gravel road for some reason.
