Hokay, so... Been attempting to swap all my halogen/incandescent lights for LEDs, and I'm starting to grow grey hairs trying to buy everything correctly.
For the most part, I've found the manual specifies some of the bulbs but not all of them, and certainly not all of the pertinent information you'll need to swap in LEDs.
This forum has been fantastic for filling in the remaining details, but it's spread across far too many threads for any sane person to make sense of in a reasonable amount of time. Plus, there's occasionally conflicting information - I'd hate for someone to only find a misinformed post and buy the wrong part.
I figure I'd get the ball rolling, with the eventual goal of having the actual specs for all of the lights on the civic laid out in one well-sourced post. I'll focus on LED swaps, but mention anything else when I'm aware of it. I'll break it down, as best I can, in a few ways: Light type/location, compatible civic models, manual source or forum source, known caveats, relevant threads, and links to recommended bulbs for purchase. And I'll probably toss some misc stuff in at the end. Can't get this perfect myself though, so feel free to jump in and correct me or add on where you see fit.
Here goes nothing!
Headlights:
If you've got a Touring with LED headlights, this part is easy. You can't do anything. (unless you're an electrical engineer or something).
If you've got halogens (all non-Touring afaik, haven't looked much into these myself):
This one seems to be the same across all civics
This one seems to be the same across all civics
There's a few different places for these, with some variations by model, but it seems they're more or less the same bulb type across the car.
Seen a few threads with folks confused about the bulb type, or reporting the wrong bulb entirely.
Seen tons of confusion around this bulb type. Manual ain't much help.
Most issues here have to do with hyperflashing.
Woo! Done! I think!?
Hope this can be helpful to everyone, I know it's not perfect, but I guess that's the point of this community. I'll monitor this thread and update my post as any corrections or clarifications trickle in. Hopefully we can collectively save each other some frustration.

- High Beam
- Bulb Type: HB3 (60W) - according to manual
- Caveats: none that I'm aware of
- Links: lots of options here, too many to list. Reccs?
- Low Beam
- Bulb Type: H11 (55W) - according to manual

- Bulb Type: H8 (35W) - according to manual
- Caveats: May or may not need a load resistor. Anyone have experience with this or more information in general?

- Bulb Type: 194/T10 (personal experience, thread linked below)
- Caveats: May want to avoid a long/tall light as space is tight. For legal reasons, you probably want Amber or White lights here.

- Bulb Type: 194/T10 (per Thread)
- Caveats: Some spaces may require a shorter bulb than the size of some LEDs on the market. Careful here, pick up a couple different kinds if you have any doubts, they are pretty cheap.

Seen a few threads with folks confused about the bulb type, or reporting the wrong bulb entirely.
- Bulb Type: 921 (per Threads, Manual only specifies 16W)
- some listings also say T10,T15,T16 - not sure why
- Coupe bulb might differ, 64132?
- Caveats: Aside from the 921/T10/T16 confusion, I'd lean 921, it seems the LED pattern of the bulb itself can make or break the performance of a replacement. Read reviews. Anyone had issues requiring a CAN-bus warning canceler? Could use some clarity on that.

Seen tons of confusion around this bulb type. Manual ain't much help.
- Bulb Type: 7440 (per Threads, Manual only specifies 21W) (maybe 1156 in the coupe?)
- Caveats: Make sure to get red bulbs. Bulbs for your taillight should have backward facing LEDs - to not blind people. Non-hatch models have a 3rd light, for which you may prefer a forward facing LED. Worth considering bulb design here.
- Relevant Threads:
- Links:
- Philips 7440 Intense Red Vision LED Stop/Tail light - 2 pack
- Sylvania Zevo 7440 Red LED Bulb - 2 pack (reviews say they aren't too bright, perhaps just use for 3rd light, as it beams forward)
- Could use other reccs here

- Caveats: Make sure to get amber bulbs. Seems like there's some resistors/decoders that may be needed as well, depending on bulb. Could use some clarification on that.
- Relevant Threads:
- Links:
- Luyed Error Free 7440 LED Amber - 2 pack (claims to be plug n play)
- JDM Astar PX Chipsets 7440 LED Amber - 2 pack (probably needs resistor, ~6 ohm)
- Could use more reccs or some resistors that work well.
