Absolutely, the beginner tunes are great and you can make "quick adjustments" to help with things like throttle response, early spool, etc. It really does feel like driving a different car when you flash the ECU. Wouldn't call it a "fast car" when using it but it definitely wake it up a little bit and makes it more quick (if that makes any sense).

I get used to it fast and whenever I flash to stock for oil changes at the dealer I realize the difference it makes.

It's also worth looking into the TSP stage 1 tune that you can adjust the different maps on the fly if you want to make it even more fun to drive.

Buy it and have fun but also treat it nicely!

I've been tuned for a year and a half and the difference it makes is amazing. And it's not just all out, pedal to the metal power either. You'll notice it in everyday driveability too. Better throttle response and less lag are two big benefits. If you want easy power, forget the various bolt-ons, start with a tune.

21psi tune estimate was something like 200-210whp IIRC. In my experience, 21psi tune can keep up a stock Si coupe without flooring it. That's not to say the Si driver didn't know how to drive or wasn't 100% pushing it also, but sure as hell seemed like it.

D-Rob / TSP dyno'd the KTuner 21 at 203 whp on the 1.5 non-Si. Definitely more power than a stock Si.

Ktuner 21 base map. They dyno'd their own Stage 1 non-Si tune closer to 220 whp. I run the TSP and the top end is crazy good.

My next question is do I have to buy different tunes? Or are they free? Lol

The ones on ktuner's website (listed below) come with it. Things like the TSP tune need to be purchased separately.

Stage 0 (CVT):
Improved throttle response
Reduced turbo lag
Improved low-end and midrange torque
Smoothed boost curve, 15psi
Producing a much more sporty feel and drivability

Stage 1 (CVT and MT):
Improved throttle response
Removed throttle dampening on low end, better performance off the line
Reduced turbo lag
Improved low-end and midrange torque
Boost raised to 18psi
Producing a much more sporty feel, drivability, and additional top end power!

Stage 2 (CVT and MT):
Improved throttle response
Removed throttle dampening on low end, better performance off the line
Reduced turbo lag with aggressive spool up
Improved low-end and midrange torque
Boost raised to 21psi
Producing a much more sporty feel, drivability, and additional top end power!

Stage 2 Dual Calibration (CVT and MT):
Improved throttle response
Removed throttle dampening on low end, better performance off the line
Reduced turbo lag with aggressive spool up
Improved low-end and midrange torque
Factory boost in ECO mode
Boost raised to 21psi in normal
Producing a much more sporty feel, drivability, and additional top end power!

Super noob question....aside from increasing the “feel” of the car’s performance, are there any other benefits to the ktuner (or other types), like increasing fuel efficiency? If you don’t do any performance events with your car, is it still worth it? I did some googling and got mixed results.

If anything, more power = less fuel efficient, but it's dependent on how heavy your foot is. I can easily make my average fuel economy meter stay in the low-mid 20s if I really wanted to. Normal daily driving, you shouldn't see much of an effect.

Thanks. That’s what I assumed and seems logical...it would appear once I read further on google the “tuning” that was being referred to in regards to increasing mpg was actually maintenance things such as changing filters, tire pressure, etc.
