I dont understand how companies are allowed to advertise gains like this knowing that no one can duplicate them.
They did the same thing with the 9th gen Si, claimed 10ish HP gain, but when someone else tested it out it actually was worse than the OEM intake lmao.

It is because they are clever enough to put "results may vary" at the end; the secret science behind every advertisement. It is shameful, nonetheless.

137 at the wheels? Man, I was thinking it'd be a bit more. I'm heading to a dyno day in Lake Placid, NY on Saturday and my buddy is bringing his 2017 Si. We'll see how she does! K&N claims 5 horsepower for my Civic, so I can only imagine how much I'd lose from installing a Typhoon  I'll stick with Injen.

So, we dynoed the 17 Si. All I can say is, K&N is doing some weird stuff with their dyno run. They used 2nd gear, which is odd because most of the time 4th is used with a 6MT. Anyway, their curves look a little different as well. Moon Performance uses a Mustang dyno, which basically gets a curb weight measurement and a drag coefficient reading and the dyno uses a magnetic force to load your car as if it were on the road, therefore leading to more accurate results. We managed 191 horsepower and 203 lb ft torque (after the weather correction factor is applied - the curves pictured are a little off that) out of a totally stock 17 Si with 3000 miles, which was pretty solid and just around what I expected. Honda's factory torque numbers don't seem to make much sense, but then again most manufacturers number don't nowadays. We're probably looking at crank numbers around 210/220. Here is the chart:

EDIT: Just realized I misread K&Ns chart, their peak power was about the same, although their torque curve still looked a little weird. I definitely don't buy 11 horsepower from a short ram intake, though.

Once its soaked its soaked. Sure that picture was at idle but after I stopped it hadnt changed since I was on the freeway, Even once Im driving, the only thing that comes down is the IAT2 which is post intercooler. And once its soaked, it doesnt budge either. Once my IAT1 at the intake is in the 90s-100s it never comes down, moving or not.
This is a valuable bit of information here. Thanks for posting it up.

For those that ran this intake for the 9th gen si know it was no good. What it was goof for was that cool sound. Vit didnt recommend it and got you a very slight gain. Id stick with PRL

For those claiming heat soak without any data, I will let the pictures speak. Cool air could be better, but if you bash aftermarket intakes you have to bash Honda engineers as well because all the data I found has the stock temps just as high or higher. The thermal images were all taken after hard driving. The K&N was actually probably driven even harder prior to photos.

This is very interesting to see. Never seen anyone do this from a personal level. Thanks!

You'll probably have some folks asking what ambient temps where during the runs. How how hard was the car driven during each run and for how long. Was the route the same. Etc, etc. I'm satisfied with what you have provided though and appreciate it.

Yeah the internal temp of the air intake around the sensor was over 60 c in the stock setup. What I saw overall was the sri was running at worst the same temp or lower than the stock box. Granted a Cai would draw in temps that are ambient. However I think a lot of the heat soak drama for some sri is overblown. The post driving measurements were taken at 80 Fahrenheit or 90 Fahrenheit in my garage.
