I did everything exactly as suggested.

I cut the quick splice rounded portions, took forever to fit it onto the gray wire in that little area, slipped the loose red wire in, and closed down the metal portion with pliers. I even tried to close the red top thing over it as best as I could though the black wire is interfering slightly, but that's no matter.

And what is my result???

Honda Civic 10th gen JDM Side Markers Lights for all 10th Civics {filename}

STILL WHITE!!!

I'm following every instruction specifuckally from every video and comment aboard, and it just isn't working.

Somebody explain how the metal piece splices the wires outside of the coating that protects the wires, or how it penetrates the outer coating in such a way that it still maintains the wire will not get cut in the process. I am very afraid that I will attempt this so many times that I will actually cut the original Honda OEM gray wire into two, and I am going to throw a fit if something like that happens to my new toy.

As you all can tell, I have the worst bit of luck in this thread than anybody else. First I order from JDM and get the wrong parts, then I order from Amazon and get non-fitting parts, now I order again from JDM and their instructions are goddamn useless, and even when I find out how to do it correctly (destructing pieces in the process because it is literally impossible to do if they are their original size), it still doesn't operate as intended. What left is it that I have to do to get this to work???

Oh, and one final note JDM... the word LOOSE is spelled L-O-O-S-E, not L-O-S-E. Misspelling it once can be chalked up to a common typo, but twice gets me to sense a bit of uneducatedness. The reason I say that is because we're all stupid in some departments: I am with vehicles and tools, and you are with both English and considerateness. This was not easy to do, your instructions have not been clear or correct (the wire in these cars are not red), your pieces do not fit correctly, and it simply just is not working right now.

Please understand that right now I am speaking out of pure frustration and a slight bit of worry that I am ruining my brand new car. I know, I know... don't want to ruin my car? I should be taking it to a specialist who can do this or I shouldn't be ordering these parts to begin with. But with your claims of ease and instructions that come with this, combined with the fact that others have been able to DIY it without concern and that you market it as something that is able to do, you really have to claim some accountability here and be of greater customer support on the forum with these troubleshooting concerns. I have not gotten that from you so far.

If I don't get this corrected soon or if it ruins my vehicle, you know that I will be demanding a full refund.

EDIT: Also was just sent an e-mail from a company asking me to review my order. It is currently a two-star review for the reasons described above. Later I know I'll feel bad about posting what I've posted so far, but I am heated that this process is not only not as initially described, but it's also not working.

@MuffinMcFluffin I feel the pain, I think the "easy to install" version is the one with the bulbs which is a simple swap. Most likely, I'm guessing the metal piece inside the splice is not fully clamped in, causing it not to turn Amber. I had this issue a bit until I really squeezed down the quick splice. Also, if you can, try to pull the black wire out of the quicksplice- the top hinge piece is supposed to lock into place like a clip.

FYI, my install hasn't been perfect either, one of my markers went dim after a week or so. I'll be spending some time over the weekend double checking my connections etc. I agree, the instructions aren't to the T, but it's a learning opportunity if you want to keep doing stuff like this

I appreciate your help in the matter, really I do so very much.

Sadly, I clamped that sucker down hard and it still hasn't changed the color. Since taking the photos I also removed the black wire from there enough for the red cap to close all the way down on it.

Once again, I'm really just afraid/concerned that I am going to cut the gray wire into two.

All that being said, do the photos look like I'm now attacking the correct area?

Thanks.

Yeah, in fact I don't know how you were able to pull the plug that far out lol. I did most of the work inside the wheel well through that 2x2 inch gap. Anyway, it looks correct to me so far, hope this isn't a case of the blind leading the blind lol

I had to open the engine hood, slip my arm through an opening and grab the black coil, pulling it just enough that a small piece could rest right on top of that opening. I almost dropped pieces of the quick splice inside the engine at one point, and that would have been it.

See, I can't order the normal bulb pieces from JDM because they don't come with an amber bulb. I don't want to order again from Amazon because I don't want pieces to not fit again. I have also come to decide that I like the way the LED strip pieces blend with the color of my car more than the bulb version, at least when they are off. I definitely like them more than the regular orange ones and really, really want this modification to work out ASAP. I just can't be driving illegally with the white version of the lights is all (plus they don't match my headlights' temperature), and they don't look as good as I'm sure amber will at night.

Okay man, so I got it to work.

I tried the right side of my car, things went much more smoothly trimming the plastic piece and slipping it on, and when turning on the lights they were white, so I just let out an unwarranted "FUCK YOU!!!" and squeezed the entire plastic super hard with my pliers and it just flicked orange. Then I was like: "Huh......."

So I went to the other side and did the same thing. Low and behold, it worked. I guess squeezing it before putting the plastic cover over it didn't do anything, but afterward was the last punch that was needed for it to change color.

I apologize for airing out my frustration earlier. I'll change that two-star rating to a five-star. If anyone else needs help with this, just maybe someday I'll make a video, because the instructions they sent out are not clear, grammatically poor, and not visually supportive with the amber color option.

Thank you very much for your assistance. I hope you can correct the dimming on yours and I hope I don't run into any trouble like that myself.

So I went back outside to check up on them, and the left one was white again. I guess the clamp is not staying down very well. I got one of the zip ties and tightened it with that. Hopefully that holds. If not, I'll have to figure out how else I'm supposed to hold that thing down.

Here are a couple of shots:

Okay, but then that doesn't make sense. The other wire is gray, not red. Do I do it with that one?

I just don't know how I'm going to be able to accomplish that. It's not as easy as it is being instructed by the guys who made that PDF.
You have it wired correctly based on the most recent photos you showed us. The last step is to just put everything back as best as you can. This is where some experience comes in. For example, in your case, you can completely cut off most of that extra red wire, since it looks like you are not wiring it to your turn signal or headlight unit. I recommended to our video team that we do an install video on these. I hope it will be filmed and released soon.

Thank you very much, and I saw your reply on the review site as well but didn't know how to reply to it. Much appreciated on the follow-up.

Well, it sounds like you got everything working. Each time you install a new part type, there might be some issues like this you run into. The end result though is that you do usually learn something that makes future installs easier. :)

Again, we'll try to get an install video going for this part.

Hey everyone, I was reviewing this post and spotted an error. The LED light strip version of these side markers actually has the option of lighting up either amber or white, your choice!
Hey I'm getting ready to purchase these led side markers but was wondering if someone can confirm more specifically that these would stay on white with the DRLs and headlights and blink amber with my indicators and hazards when wired correctly.

Also, I've read plenty of people mention condensation and water getting into the housing of other brands. Has anyone had this type of issue with this model? The others that I've seen in an install video didn't seem to have a plastic part that sticks out a little behind the markers to cover the space between the markers and wheel liner like the OEM markers do. I'm hoping these are of a much higher build quality and match the OEM markers better. Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Yes, if wired correctly. I do not know how to wire them that way, however.

One month in and I have not witnessed any condensation of any sort. My weather doesn't really dip below 45 degrees often though, but I did get a good bit of rain this past month.
