Would recommend 18" rims in winter to give more sidewall to tires. Pot holes and frost heaves eat low profile tires/rims.

That's what I paid for brand new 18" kansei wheels and Michelin PS3+ shipped to my door. Agree with above, go for 18's so you can add that space to the aspect ratio.

Thanks for the input! Going for 18’s!

Are you running 18x8? Or do you need to go wider like 18x9.5?

I'm currently running 18x8 Enkei Raijins with Michelin PS AS3+ 245/40/18 tires without an issue. Note the with an 8-wide rim, the widest you can go on tires (recommended) is 245.

It all depends on the wheel. I bought 18x9 because I called the company up and asked about their fitments. THey were super helpful. Somebody who worked there knew a guy with a type R and they test fit the wheels on his car and sent me pictures. I went with 18x9 Kansei Corsas with a +35 offset.

I also talked to some guys at Konig to see about their fitments. A lot of wheel companies will help you out if you have questions about what will clear the Brembo calipers on the CTR.

Check out the aftermarket wheel thread on here. Hundreds of ideas

In regards to winter performance (snow/ice) the narrower the tire the better. In snow you want to cut through the snow rather than just floating on top of it. The wider the tire the more you will just stay on top/lose traction... I stayed with stock rim width for this reason.

As for offset check post Tev42 mentioned to see what has worked for others. You also can't go wrong with tire rack recommendations as they will tell you if they have fitted those specific wheels to a Type R so you know they fit.
