Dodge Challenger SRT 392 (485hp)...or a Hellcat.(707hp)
Or if I want to really save some money the RT "Scatpack" which has the 392 V8 with 485hp but is about $5,000 less than a SRT with the same motor, but upgraded suspension.

Love the look of the Challenger, even the 3.6 305hp V6 is fun to drive...and gets about 32mpg on the highway.
These Challengers handle AMAZINGLY well for a 4,000 car, I had 3 of them.

In fact when I was pushing my new SI through my favorite twisties here in the So Cal mountains I couldn't push the SI any faster than my Challenger RT....I was stunned!! I didn't realize the Challenger handled so well.
Maybe it's the wider stance of the Challenger?

Have fun with the gas.
Wouldn't be a daily driver and the 392 actually gets about 28mpg on the hiway about the same as a Type R.
You don't worry about gas when you buy a car like that anyway.

6th gen ZL1. And if you pick up a few cans and do a Krispy Kreme fundraiser or two you could upgrade to the 1LE version.

Buy a slightly used C7 Corvette and bring it to Hennessey Performance and your results will be:beer::beer::beer::spaz::spaz::spaz:

op what is it that you want out of a car ? 60k buys alot of really great cars ! I have a c7 vette and the type R - i like the type R way more for the daily commute. Hard to beat the c7 for track work though.

The type R really is a very fun car for the daily commute. Lots of fun on the mountain roads. I haven't taken it to a track or autocross yet but i imagine it will be very much up to the task ! Hard to beat the practicality of the hatchback as well. Helped a friend move recently - he was surprised by how much i could fit in the hatch with the seats down. It really is the best of both worlds - fun to drive daily and fun to drive track car. It has compromises - sure but i'm ok with it since i have the vette and other toys (motorcycles, off road toys, etc)

If it were me and i had 60k - i would buy a fun daily that is also comfortable and reasonable on gas. Insert lexus of your choice. Then save the rest of the money for a serious track vehicle.

Buy a used ariel atom with no motor or blown motor? Possibly try and find a wrecked type r - put the k20c into the ariel atom - lots of smiles to be had i imagine !

RS3.
I went to a Half Mile Event a few weeks ago. There was a RS3 with all APR goodies crosing the mark at 170mph.

Those were serious numbers very consistent. Faster than a Dodge Demon.
Fell in love with the car even more.

$1700 GG tax on the Hellcat, LMFAO
How much "tax" in one form or another do you think you pay for a Type R? Do you really think a Civic, ANY Civic is worth $36,000?? :D

In 40 years if it's kept in the family my grandkids can sell the Hellcat and pay cash for a house, I doubt any Civic will be worth that much, especially since they probably won't be making large displacement V8's much longer, they will be collector cars for sure.

When was the last time you saw a Civic, ANY Civic, sell at the popular Barrett-Jackson car auction in Phoenix?

Are you basing a car's future worth off of a BJ Auction? My friend, you have some researching to do.

I seriously doubt a modern Dodge, let alone a 8-10 mpg engine can be worth enough to buy a house, unless it's a shed.

The future of the automobile is moving steadily away from big displacement engines in favor of Hybrid, Electric powertrains.
First off the Challengers don't get 8-10mpg maybe the Hellcat in the city but even that 707hp motor is good for about 22 mpg on the highway.
My Challenger RT with the 5.7 V8 and 375hp got 29mpg on the highway with the cruise set to 70, pretty damn good for a 5 second flat 0-60 car!
Since when does the mpg have to do with the worth of a car anyway??

And BECAUSE the future is moving away from big displacement is EXACTLY why they will be collector cars!

BTW....you don't think people have sold muscle cars from the 60's and 70's and had money to buy a house with it?? Have you seen what 60's and 70's MOPAR muscle and other muslce cars from that era have sold for at auctions???
YOU might want to do some research, it can make you some $$$

unless your into pure straight line performance I can't see it being more fun than the aforementioned cars on a sunday drive. Rather buy a ZL1 1LE over a hell cat anyday.

No thanks. I don't want to spend my money on old, dinosaur vehicles. I will never buy an American car, new or old
LOL......"dinosaur vehicles" why is it any different than a old Japanese or German vehicle?
We're talking about INVESTMENT, doesn't matter who makes the vehicle, it matters how collectible it is.
Doesn't matter who makes the car, American or Japanese or German or Swedish or whatever............
Not talking about a daily driver.

Anyway brother, it's YOUR money to buy what you want, buy what makes you happy..........and what makes you money!

My 4,000lb Challenger RT handles just as good as my 2018 SI does in the So Cal twisty mountain roads........I know, I was amazed too!!
I took my 2,900lb SI on the SAME mountain curves and couldn't push the SI any faster through the curves than my RT, surprised the shit out of me!!
Might be the wider stance of the RT........
