I feel like I'm one of the few who wasn't impressed by the Miata. My wife and I rented a Special Edition on Maui, and drove it along the Hana Highway. Yeah, it was a blast, but I found the engine rather unimpressive sounding, and the whole car just had a kind of cheap feel I didn't expect from a $30k car. I would like to try it in the rain or snow - it was a difficult to get the back end moving around on dry warm pavement.

This was our rental.

The new Miata remind me of the early 70s corvettes, just smaller. I like them because of it. Other purist might think it is a ripoff of the corvette design, I consider it an homage.
Actually they remind me more of the Opel GT:

I’ve almost bought a ND so many times lol

New 19’ with HP bump and recaros has me tempted again
The ND2 power bump was sorely needed. Winter is best time for the best deal. Good luck! But the CTR is such a complete package that I wouldn’t mind having one parked next to my ND. So I’m looking for one at MSRP in SoCal now.

 3-5k off MSRP during winter time is normal. People don’t usually pay anywhere close to MSRP for the Miata. It complements the CTR perfectly.

was able to drive the ND 6MT around Fontana Speedway maybe 2 years ago or so at a test drive event. Fun car and you can really carry speed through turns. They had a mazda race driver there to take us around after we had our free lap just to show how capable it was.

Quick question to those who also own a Miata (superchi / tomcxb / others?), at what occasion do you drive the CTR vs. Miata? (Obviously top down on a sunny day). I am curious because CTR handles very sharp despite the extra weight.

Just thinking down the road, I don't want to buy a Miata and then don't drive it enough. I live in Seattle so sunny & warm days are rare. I also take the bus to work. I average ~8,000 miles a year on my car.

Thanks so much for sharing your experience with how you divide your driving between CTR and Miata. :)

I bought the Miata for my wife. It’s her summer car but I think I drive it more than she does. Sunny days when you want to feel the wind in your hair and the sun on your face are the best. I drive it to the store, run errands, and to work every now and then. It’s a different type of fun than the type R. It definitely needs more power than it has.

I actually traded the car in before getting the CTR, so apologies as I won't be able to speak to your question. I can say though that had my situation been right, I'd have loved to keep the Miata as a second car to the CTR. Both are unique and enjoyable driving experiences. The more I think about it, the more I miss the ND, maybe I'll start shopping again this winter ...

Insert S2000 :) it has all of the above plus power and great handling!

I had a Solstice in the fleet for a while. Drove nice and timeless looks. Achiles heal was the smaller than miata trunk. I am a golfer, so it only lasted 2 seasons. Miata or S2000 would be a nice complement to your Honda.
