what’s up. I’m new to the forum and just wanted to gauge the average age of the enthusiasts here. I’m 30 with a fair amount of car experience, just wanted to see if there are many first time car owners, modders, or if many of you have been wrenching on cars for a while with previous builds in the past. Looking forward to learning more about these little 1.5 four bangers from you all.

10 years older than you Oddwayne, 40. I am back to my roots after 10 years of driving boring automatic CVT cars and driving manual stick again in a fun sports car!

    Cheers,

    There's a previous thread:

How old is too old to buy an SI with many responses.

Just turned 70 in Oct '18. Be interested if I'm the senior owner.

    Just turned 31 yesterday :D
Learning to drive a manual and owning one was on my bucket list I made at 30, so I bought one about 5 1/2 months ago and I’m loving every minute of it. So I’m a newbie. My boyfriend has had a 9th gen for a decade though and is showing me the ropes.

Nope, I'm 71, just traded my 16 EX-L on a 19 Touring Coupe In December, yesterday, we traded my wife's 16 Fit EX on a 19 Fit EX-L Navi. She transitioned from Accords to the Fit, I've been driving Civic coupes since 95, wish they still made the CRX Si.

You’re lucky you’re learning with a modern car. I have owned stick cars since my first car and the difference in a more analog car is missed sorely. I miss the pre dbw days of rowing through gears. Oh and congrats to sticking true to your busket list.

    23. This is my first car that I bought on my own. My previous was a 98 civic lx 5 speed. I guess I caught the manual bug.

I heard recently on NPR's Wait, Wait that a potential thief hopped into a car only to find it was a manual that he couldn't drive.

Holy crap. I thought I was ancient. Great to see you 70+ guys driving Civics. I've got a little ways to go to hit that, but I plan on driving sporty cars forever.

Thanks! I’ve picked it up pretty quickly. They definitely make it easier to learn on new vehicles.

Let's just say my pre-teen and teenage years was in the 80's. My first car was in 1984, and my first gf was 86. So I am definitely older than you, but this is my first Honda, I come from 25 years of Toyota ownership

After driving a manual for a good bit of time, it all comes natural. Just like brushing your teeth. I guess when you don't have any teeth left, its time for a CVT.

I drove manuals (mostly Hondas) for 25+ years straight. When my wife lost her job due to illness we had to share one car. Since she only drove automatic, I made the switch.
