How many of you swapped out your oem trans fluid?

Are you still running your oem mtf?

Just curious to see how many of you swapped out your oem tranny fluid. If youre still running it, how many miles do you have on the fluid?

Think it does? I know it does. I posted a write up on here for DIY change on this car. Included links to the crush washers and torque specs, too. https://www.civicx.com/threads/transmission-fluid-change-2017-si.24076/#post-405131

I went OEM because I was just trying to flush out the 'break in' fluid... the batch I put 11-5000 miles on. I wasn't expecting to feel a change but it is noticeable. That was a nice little treat.

A lot of people are going Amsoil and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was the better fluid. But for my experience, even a OEM fluid swap is an upgrade.

Not anything compared to the other guys on civicx. The rest of my vehicles are old so picking up some Castrol ATF is about the extent of it. For what it is worth, I don't use Honda motor oil for the engine, I went Penz Platinum 0w-20. So it isn't like I am a 'OEM all the way' kinda guy. I just didn't feel comfortable swapping out of OEM so early in ownership. I'll probably do Amsoil for the next go-around.

when it co.es to motor oil... i dont think really anbody uses hondas oem oil. its probably just repackaged mobil1.

but with mtf fluid it definitely is hobdas own blend.. whatever it is

for whats its worth i went back to the oem trans fluid from amsoil, and it feels better than the amsoil.

I’m curious why you switched and what you’ve noticed since switching back. I was about to swap to Amsoil tomorrow!

i switched because the trans was notchy in 2nd and grinded once.

the trans felt good for about 3 weeks then started getting notchy again, even more notchy than it was before the amsoil.

i put new oem fluid back in about a month ago and its felt smoother ever since.ill see how well this holds up but so far so good. oh and amsoil is even worse in the cold weather

The cold weather is what was giving me pause. We had our first bout of cold weather and my transmission was pretty unwilling to shift, notchy as all hell. Even once it warmed up it was still unpleasant. Someone will figure it out eventually, I’ll hold off on the swap for now. Thanks for the advice!

I just did both today at 5k as well. Went to Amsoil Synchromesh as well.

I did it due to the issues going into second as well. Notchy, grinding...

I only went around the block once so far... Possibly noticed a difference, not sure.
