In the current form, with refreshes etc. not withstanding, how long do you guys think this model will go on for? 5 years? 7?

The Avg Civic model run is 5 years with the preceding 9th gen lasting only 4 years. Its worth noting the Type R did not go into production until the second year of the tenth gen. IMO it will go 3 years after the refresh so 2021 will probably be the last model year of the FK8 or 5 years total. Whether or not they give us the next Type R is the question.

I don't know how much demand there is elsewhere, but Type R's are sold here in Texas before they are even built or shipped to the states. If they do make it to the dealer, it is sold in a matter of hours. The only dealers that have them on site are the ones marking them up way too much. If this is similar to demand around the rest of the country, I would expect us to get the Type R for the rest of this 10th generation run. Taking it away for the 11th generation would just be cruel and unusual punishment.

This comment confuses me.o_O
He’s making light of the fearmongering of some at the initial launch that this was going to be some special edition car that Honda was going to bring over here for just a year or two to justify the ridiculous ADM prices some were paying. There are some initial 2017 owners that probably owe more on their cars today than someone who walks into a dealership and buys a 2019 at MSRP financing it for the same term with the same down payment.

If they keep selling Honda will keep making them. Production numbers have long surpassed the DC2 ITR already.

As someone mentioned here, It'll be like the STI and Golf R etc.. which is great for us, more competition the better in this price range.

As long as they can still make money. Since Civic Type R has been produce consistently for the rest of the world, the product cycle will likely mirrored the UK Civic Type R life cycle.

You’re about 100% right. I meet a guy that literally told me he had to get the 2017 CTR because he heard they were going to bring like 1500 to 2000 to the US and no guarantee there will be a 2018 model. LOL

I wonder what dealers are doing to justify markups on new CTR's these days lol. They aren't really an "exclusive" or "rare" car anymore. I mean sure the production numbers are lower than a regular Civic but they have produced enough of them to the point where markups are just dumb. Especially since it is most likely going into the 2019 MY as well.

It's all about profit....probably as long as they're making what enough to satisfy the shareholders.

Here in California dealerships still have markups cuz people are still paying them so the dealerships gets away with it, Not like in the east coast alot of msrp.
