Posting this because I read forum upon forum upon forum and never found an answer to my problem so I solved it myself and now I share my knowledge for you.
To be clear, this is not a blank screen, this is a blank map. My navigation map literally went blank, with just the icon for my vehicle moving around on an empty white background. A reboot of the head did not resolve this. A factory reset of the head unit did not resolve this. A battery disconnect did not solve this. The dealer told me they couldn't fix it and my software was up to date (?!?!).
Come to find out, the simple fix was "updating" my navigation data for the head unit. All you need is a computer, high speed internet connection, a 16GB USB2.0+ Flash Drive, and 2 hours to kill.

Just follow these instructions and you're all set.
