i noted the orange "brake" notification that pops up when you get too close to a car, but does it ever actually fully brake the car?

Yes, it will if you don't take action and press the brake. I have had it happen a couple of times.

It is :( I've had a false positive and its jarring.

Yeah, same here. Had it activate when it really didn't need to. I'm glad I didn't get rear-ended by the truck behind me. Have been driving with it turned off ever since. It's too sensitive for my liking/driving style. Also, living and driving in Los Angeles with all the traffic is just too annoying having it on. People are constantly changing lanes in front of you or its stop and go traffic. The system is constantly warning to brake.

Have you guys tried changing the CMBS warning distance to short?
I know on the Accord you can do this. I figure you can on the Civic as well.

Yeah, I changed it to Short and its still too sensitive. I will mostly be using it for long distance trips only.

You can. I drive in LA traffic everyday no problems with it set to short.

Been using short setting since I got the car and it works very well. Normal was just too dangerous for my driving style.

Yeah I was ok for a while until there was that one time that i had to accelerate to get into another lane, thus getting close to the vehicle that was in front of me. The car tried braking on its own even though I was already in the other lane and had avoided the "collision". Sometimes you have to do some maneuvers that the vehicle doesn't like. In my situation I felt the Honda Sensing was more "dangerous" than "safe". It's almost like it was too slow to react and even though I had avoided the other vehicle it took it a moment to realize this. I guess my speed compared to the vehicle in front was just too quick and the car tried to help.
