Quoted from article... 1.5T Civic Si is still possible.
I'm going to quell that rumor right now.

Variations of the 1.5T are targeted for areas like China and Europe where Honda receives tax incentives for producing smaller displacement motors. A higher output 1.5T will almost certainly replace Honda's "Earth Dreams" base 2.4 in the upcoming 2018 Accord, which will also likely share elements of the Civic's chassis.

The 2.0T is for the U.S. spec Si. The block will then likely be extended with a new head/internals into the Global CTR.

Not Expecting the Si to come out till Fall, since March is the coupe. They will start the mass production of engines in March. So September or October Si should be released, IMO they are going to have same 4 month stretches at least between models. But here is a question related to automatic Si the Chevy Camaro won car of the year and comes with a GM built 8 speed auto w/ Paddle shifters. From what they are saying that automatic is top notch. Come on Honda at least copy GM and have a 8 sp auto with paddle shifters like Camaro. Don't have to be DCT just surprise us with a cool auto. Please and thank you if you read these ha

Four months from March is July....right in t the middle of summer. September or October would be 6 or 7 months. The SI is likely to debut at NYC's autoshow (or some private event) and be on sale by summer time...if those 2.0t engines that will be built are going into the Civic SI.

They could delay production a month or two to coincide with MY2017. I also think it could be June but wouldn't rule out early September.

I think it's the other way around though- the 2.0T is already going in the TypeR. It'll be underworked to go in the Si.

I don't know about the time from first casting or first forging, but finished engine to showroom floor is a lot less than 6 months--probably closer to 6 weeks--unless they are going to make the 2.0T somewhere besides Anna. Or unless the lead time is determined by Anna engines going to Swindon to assemble the HB and then coming back to the US. Even then, 6 months seems like a long time.

True, it will technically be an evolution of the 2015/16 CTR. But that motor is produced exclusively in Swindon UK, IIRC. The upcoming variant is supposed to be produced in Anna, OH.

EDIT: Did a little digging. All 2.0T's are being produced in Sidney, OH, including the 9th Gen CTR's.

Also, whenever they begin production of the 2.0T, simply add 3-4 months for it to arrive on the showroom floor.
That's interesting! What happens in those 3 to 4 months? Are they stockpiling engines, or does that 3-to-4-month-delay rule of thumb also apply from when they start building the car body on the assembly line?

This is a bit off topic, but very relevant to performance of the Si.

I just noticed the curb weight difference between the Sedan LX 6MT and CVT. 279 lbs. Thats huge!

http://automobiles.honda.com/civic-sedan/specifications.aspx

Can't help wonder how it will ultimately translate to the final curb weight of the Coupe Si 6MT.
Dang is it lx vs touring or just lx 6mt vs lx cvt?
Either way big difference! Can't believe it's just the cvt...
