I still say all these dealerships that think we are the one's that are the idiots for asking MSRP to be the selling price need to post up their dealership name, location and price sold. Put the burden of proof on them to show that this car which isn't even their Halo car can sell for the Market Adjusted Value. It would be great to have all the data to see what is "really" going on.

Question: if buyers do buy over MSRP, what value will Kelly Blue Book state? The MSRP or the Market Value?

My guess, the MSRP will be stated.

Just got a text from Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg PA, which is a first, never received a text from a dealer before. They're asking 45k. I told them to call me back when they're asking MSRP or less.

Last week I called several dealers in Chicago and this was the result:

Fletcher Jones - had 5 deposits taken, asking 2K over MSRP
McGrath City Honda - no deposits taken, asking 10K over MSRP
Grossinger Honda - deposits taken / none available. Unclear on price
AutoNation Honda O'hare - deposits taken / none available. Unclear on price
McGrath Honda of Elgin - deposits taken / none available. Unclear on price
McGrath Honda of St. Charles - deposits taken / none available. Confirmed MSRP.

There were others but I stopped keeping track. McGrath of St. Charles was by far the best dealer to work with, which is OK with me since that's where I grew up. I am now texting with a sales manager who is keeping me in the loop on their stock. They are getting two in and have accepted deposits for both, so its doubtful those will become available but I am allegedly next in line for whenever they get another...

In the meantime I am debating if I aggressively try and sell my '09 STI or hold out...

Sigh.

Ft Pierce Honda who had my deposit:

Houston: Angela, the Type R has arrived and is ready for you to come in.

Me: Thank you. What is the price that you will be selling it for?

Houston: $44.5k

Me: Are you will to sell at the MSRP?

Houston: No, we will not be.

Me: Okay, please process the paperwork to return my deposit. Thank you.

Houston: Who will be selling at MSRP.

Me: Southeastern Honda called me and told me the one they receive in October, as the first is already sold, will be at MSRP. [The owner does not believe in selling above.]

Houston: Okay. I'll let the office know to process your refund.

Me: Thank you.

Cliff Notes:
I have a deposit with Ft Pierce Honda

Which dealer and what color?

Idk I was just commenting on the post.

I had my CW offer changed this weekend. So I backed out of the deal and had to let her go.

So I'm giving up til probably the end of the year if I can get lucky.

Given that most of these dealers are only getting one or two cars, it makes me even more mad they are charing an ADM! You really need this extra 10K?? Are car dealers really so unprofitable they need to make an extra 5-10K off a civic that they might have one or two of?
I know right!? But that's how economics work, they ruin their reputation over a single civic because they see this as an opportunity to make money.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a sort of limited car run and sure there is the opportunity, but be up front about ADM. the worst thing to do is bait and switch or reneg on a deal that was set up months ago. That's how you ruin a reputation.
