My holidays on the way, thinking of upgrading my Hatch Sport’s interior / audio

I couldn’t care less about “infotainment”, I just want Bluetooth to connect and use my phone

Do you need to replace the head unit in order to maximize the sound upgrade? Or would simple speakers do the trick?

I haven't done it yet, but I plan on getting a Kenwood or Sony double din unit soon. With a superior receiver you'll be able to get better sound quality out of the OEM speakers. At that point if the sound quality isn't up to your liking then you could upgrade the speakers as well.

I did head unit, speakers, and self powered sub. I DD the car and listen to music the entire time. Went all Alpine.

this one is not cheap, but fits the best on modern car with factory touch screen, I probably would do the same if I don't have the factory touch screen system and all those vehicle controls within (and budget permits)

I agree. If I had the 7" I'd had left it. Most people who get in my car don't even realize it's not an OEM radio. And the ambient lighting on the bottom edge matches the climate controls.

I paid around 1300 with the alpine powered sub. Note the headunit is wired to the OEM backup camera, USB port, and steering wheel controls.

Did you use a Metra kit?
Yea from the prior year I believe. This unit is a single din.

budget isnt an issue, just wondering what would fit this car. I'm sure in the end it'll be cheaper than overpaying for the touring, all i want is some better sound - not to bump bass.

totally fine with just bluetooth/no touch screen, etc.

Would love to see a slightly different view of that HU. Would like to see how much of the AC vents it might be covering up.

My Sport sounds better if I connect using the USB cable vs Bluetooth.

i'll check it out ... it's weird, some days/songs it sounds pretty great - other days i can't set the volume over 20 because it just sounds like rattle
