Hatch Stuck?

Has anyone had an issue where the hatch becomes stuck closed for no reason? Nothing is stuck in the latch.
The hatch has no wiggle room when it's fully closed and locked. After it's unlocked and the latch releases I get maybe 1/4 inch of wiggle room but it won't release the latch.

I thought I was just opening it wrong from time to time because this exact thing would happen to me maybe once a week with regular use. I was always able to just close it and try again to fix it. Now it doesn't open at all.

Update: After a few more days it decided to come open for once. Not sure what caused the original stickage.

I’ve had this a few times, I’ve put it down to the keyless remote key being slightly out of range.

Usually it’s in my right pocket of my jacket, but if I’m turned side on and try to unlock the boot with the tailgate buttons it won’t always fully unlock.
As you say it’ll move the tiniest amount, I have to turn and with the key close to the car the tailgate will then open.
Just one of those weird quirks
