Going catless but clipping a cat on?

basically my question is can I run a catless downpipe but purchase a cat and just clip/tape it onto my exhaust tip to pass smog? Super dumb but genuinely curious if it’s even possible.

No I don't think it's possible because the cat won't get hot enough to work if you put it on the rear of the exhaust....

just get a catted dp then. the hp diff between the 2 is small.
