Hello there!!

I've owned my CTR for almost a month and I tend to feel I've been living at the gas pump since we met! So far I'm averaging 290-305 miles on a full tank. I average 27-29mpg, for those of you who have owned a CTR for a while is this normal? I researched the fuel cell in the CTR vs the SI and its the same 12 gallon tank. (Miles based on stock engine, no mods yet)

Would switching to E85 work out better?

I use to drive an accord and would get similar MPG but I would get way way way more miles to a tank before having to fill up, (its a given that the tank is larger)...

I think that mileage is within expectation. I can get 35 on the hwy but it's annoying. It's a high performance car that gets near 30 average. I don't think it's all that bad really. If you want great mileage and a sporty ride, check out the si. It'll get you 40+ in a fun well rounded package.

Dude I don't think I know anyone in a CTR who gets better gas mileage than you're getting. 27-29 is pretty darn good, and better than what the car is advertised to get.

The fuel economy on the Si and CTR are great in my opinion - but with the tiny gas tank, it can feel like you're still filling up a lot.

I get about 26.5 MPG according to my manual logging, the car says closer to 28. That said, you have a 12 gallon tank while an Accord might have a 14-15 gallon gas tank. Say you're doing 25 MPG, that would be an additional 50-75 miles to the total range.

So at 28 MPG, a 12 gallon tank should get you 336 miles while a 14-15 gallon tank would get you 392-420 gallons. The differences you're seeing are in the size of the tank. The CTR has a very small gas tank for the motor that it has since the gas tank was designed with the 1.6T or 2.0 motor in mind, not quite the 2.0T.

I'm not even sure what OP is asking here. Are you saying that you're surprised that you're seeing 27-30 mpg but only getting 270-300 miles per tank before needing to gas up? The low fuel light will come on when you have around a little less than 2 gallons left. That's about 10 gallons consumed - 10x27 = 270 miles, 10 x 30 = 300 miles. Hurray for basic math.

Sorry man - if you wanted 40 mpg, you probably shouldn't have bought a street legal race car.

Yoir mileage is fine.

If you got a tune for E85, your MPGs would drop because it takes a larger volume of ethanol to do the same work as gasoline. You have Si mileage expectations in a CTR. You'll need to change your expectations. Its a 22 city/28 highway rated car. Its doing just fine. Its actually just a little less than a 9th gen Si (22/31) that had 2/3 the power and a crappy chassis.

Dang, how do you get 29mpg on a CTR? In South Carolina heat no less. Most highway? And short shifting at 2k?

Going E85 will knock the range down to 200-ish. No bueno.

I get 22 around town, which is within advertised mpg. Yeah, the tank is small. But she’s a sweet ride. Can’t have everything.
