fouled inhectors and how to avoid it

30k on my 2018 civic si and i was just told by honda dealership my injectors are plugged causing cyclinder 4 misfire. code p0304.
i drive mostly hyway to the tune of 40-70k per year. i do drive aggressively but only briefly and not enough to cause my milage to be worse than 34mpg. (90% hyway).

the honda mechanic said "this is a known issue" and "injector cleaner would not have helped"

would a catch can have helped? anything i could do to not go through this in another 25k?

You should ask the dealer to provide you with the tech pub, if it is a known issue. The tech pub should show the root cause and remediation.

looks like they did a lot of work under warranty.
valve adjusted. f set fuel joint pi, f set fuel injector, 2pkg head cover, compression test, fuel injectors replaced, programmed fuel injection, and troubleshoot as per techline file 4171617.

no charge.

oh, and he ran a finger through the dark powder on the muffler tip.

gas milage is a lot better and it runs good. no codes.

the tech was not there when i picked it up so i could not quiz him further.

They didn't give you a copy of the tech pub? That would've been nice. And what was the purpose of running his finger through the carbon on the muffler tip? All Si's get that. I have to clean my almost every time I drive the car.

nope. i saw the stack of papers from the mechanic but only the techline tree was there.
it looks like he just used the step by step for the code p0304.
