I am interested in putting some Firestone Indy 500's on my Si, and wanted to hear some/any opinions from folks that have them.

All opinions welcomed.

Thanks, in advance.

Best tire for the money. Many guys on the forum use them. They don't quite compete with something like a Michelin Pilot Super Sport but they are much less expensive.

It's a great handling tire for the money. I don't have to crucify somebody if I run over a nail.

I may or may not have pulled a nail out of an Indy 500 yesterday.

I feel your pain! I yanked a screw out last week about 1/4 inch from the sidewall. Had maybe 2,000 miles on it.

How are they in the wet?

I live in north Florida, where it approaches freezing temps about 10 days a year.
How are they when it's cool/cold?
(I assume you have winter tires, living in Canada ... just wonder if you've got any experience with ambient temps in the 40's F?)

I would assume anything around 40s would be ok, just be a bit more careful if it's only 10-15 days a years. Any summer tires are not supposed to be driven around 40F or lower due to the compound becoming hard and having almost no traction. If you drive your car knowing this, you shouldn't have issues. The stock conti's on my 19 HB sport were used half of this winter and being in Northern alberta I got into -45C and average -25C. the only time those tires were really bad was when there was over 3" of snow on the ground. I drove the car knowing I had all seasons on and never got close to a crash or anything. Winter tires I ordered got lost in the mail and arrived end March so it wasn't worth to install.

Not dissing the Indy 500 but when timed correctly (sale + manufacturer rebate), the Conti ExtremeContact Sports cost about the same or less but provide better wet/dry grip with the same tread wear (340). The Contis also provide better rim protection (they're made slightly wider from the factory). This is assuming we're strictly talking about tire sizes for the Si (235/40/18, 245/40/18).

The Indies are fine if you don't track and don't want to wait for a sale. Still vastly better than the stock A/S Contis for sure.

Running a set of 245/0/18 Indy 500's for about ~3 months now.
I got them during the $100 manufacturer rebate, when I swapped my OEM wheels for a set of Enkei PF07's.

DEFINITELY better than the stock Continental ContiProContact tires.

I was deciding between the Indy 500, Pilot Spot 4S, and a set of Yokohoma/Advan UHP summer tires.
Indy 500 seems to have a stiffer sidewall vs the PS4S, but the Michelin edges it out in performance overall...but hard to swallow the 1.5 ~ 2x price difference per tire.

But no complaints on the Indy 500's yet; pretty satisfied so far.

The Si's come with Eagle Sport A/S tires, instead of the Conti's ...
I have looked at the Conti Extreme Contacts ... and like them. There's just something I LOVE about the Indy 500 tread!

These Eagle sports are trash, I can't wait to upgrade them. I'll probably go with the Michelin pilot sport 4s, just because I hate the road noise so much, But the indy 500s are a close second option for me.

The only way I can see doing the Indy 500s is if I buy a new set of wheels for them ...

It gets cold enough, just enough times a year, for me to worry a little bit about traction, and rubber compound damage, on the days it's near freezing.

Looks promising. Always good to have another summer tire alternative. With the Michelin, you're paying a little more for longer tread wear (280 vs 300), one more year of warranty (5 vs 6) and 3 years of flat changing.
