Just traded in my 18 SI on the 19 type R. What's the best upgrades to start with? The way I understand it the ECU needs unlocked before tuning so I guess that's on hold. Is the ktuner worth keeping from the SI?

I haven't upgraded mine but I think a lot of folks go for an intercooler and a tune first.

Do Hondata or Ktuner first. The unlocks are not interchangeable so pick one. Ktuner is behind Hondata on the FK8 platform.

Congrats on the new addition! My first upgrade was the Rally Armour mud flaps and a ceramic coating to protect the paint (especially behind the wheels) as well as make washing the car easier. I would check out the mud flaps

Does the unlock show up for the dealerships in the event of warranty claim?

Seats a little odd so far might just be my height tho. Completely more satisfying to drive and i love how it sounds as you climb towards the red line. Feels like an animal in comparison.

Care to elaborate? What do you mean "behind?" I always heard KT had more customization than Hondata. Also the ability to use just the module with KT to remap instead of keeping your laptop with you is key.

Hondata has software based traction control and flex fuel. Ktuner never said whether they had plans for software based traction control so I sold mine. I'm going to get ecu unlocked and hondata soon. Congrats on the upgrade. I came from a 17 si coupe so I know the difference you are feeling.

It's my understanding that it doesn't explicitly show up, but when you flash to stock things like "key cycles since new" and other ancillary logging data will have obviously wrong values and they can tell that you did SOMETHING.

It's best to wait until your powertrain warranty is up if you don't want any headaches. Honda doesn't want to pay any warranty claims they don't have to, and if they can get out of paying because they think you tuned, they will.

Welcome. I traded a 2017 Si coupe for my 2019 Type R. My Si was tuned with KTuner, had the PRL Cobra intake, and some other things. It was a lot of fun but not close to the Type R. So far I've changed the tires, side markers, and installed front Rally Armor flaps. Hoping to do the PRL intake and tune soon.

I had to pull some slick stuff to keep the dealer from knowing my trade was tuned. Thankfully tsp stage 1 reverts to map 1 when not connected. The handling so far is what's really impressed me.

Congrats! My first upgrade was a downgrade to 18" Enkei RPF1 wheels. They are much lighter and the extra tire sidewalls are safer for the mags.
