I'd consider that normal if a DD. I had those pads on my 86 and although not super loud, definitely had some squealing. I'd be more concerned if it happened under all braking conditions.I may need new brake pads again...need to really check mine. Past couple of days my Hawk 5.0 pads have been making some screechy/squeal noise at low speeds. I got them back in April.
true. So far I've only noticed it at low speeds when going through the gate at work, etc.I'd consider that normal if a DD. I had those pads on my 86 and although not super loud, definitely had some squealing. I'd be more concerned if it happened under all braking conditions.
So the pads are fine I just checked...but damn they make a lot of noise now lolI'd consider that normal if a DD. I had those pads on my 86 and although not super loud, definitely had some squealing. I'd be more concerned if it happened under all braking conditions.
Personally doesn't bother me, I just think about the trade off; better stopping power, worse sound. So the pads are fine I just checked...but damn they make a lot of noise now lol
I haven't had this issue yet with mine. Though I only put them on a month ago. After giving them time to bed in a little, I'm starting to go easy on the brakes to see if I could get them to act up. Though even on the stock brakes, it would take a little while before they started screaming at me.true. So far I've only noticed it at low speeds when going through the gate at work, etc.
Just ordered these, myself. Only like 65 mi on the car. Want to stop brake dust before it starts, lolAnother Akebono fan here, I always use their brake pads. Smooth braking, no dust, and cheap from Rockauto.
Swapped front and rear in at around 12K miles, have about 23K miles now. Car is a daily driver, and I do not track it.
Front: AK ASP1001

Good info. Could you drive the XP10 on the street to/from track? I dont care about dust or noise, but would like to stop at "cold/street" temps.Just checking back in after a full year or more of use with the Carbotech pads (1521 for street and XP10 for aggressive) and tire rack cheap rotors.
These work flawlessly together. Carbotech lets you swap out to the more aggressive pads without having to bed them in (same compound) and the XP10 have excellent bite and lack of fade. I may say XP12 would be the way to go if you are going to do a lot of laps or extended time on the brakes over 20-30 minutes.
Definitely. I originally installed the XP10 on the rears and left them for a solid 15k miles or so. This means in Michigan winters on snow tires... now I will say this does require pumping the brakes on those -15 degree days before you get a good brake peddle feel when on the freeway. Meaning you are driving along at 80 for the past 20 minutes without touching your brakes and you go to hit them and it’s going to feel like you don’t have any cuz of temp. Last a second or so and it’s fine as it builds that temp up.Good info. Could you drive the XP10 on the street to/from track? I have these coming tomorrow . Can't stand the brake dust too. Every drive my Rays Volk TE's looking like I came from across the country! After you run them for a while post your feedback on these, I'll be doing the same. I've heard nothing but good things about this Akebono setup.Just ordered these, myself. Only like 65 mi on the car.
