Wing is a lot less obnoxious. More akin to the Si coupe wing.

I had heard they were going to make the R more of a regular model and not as limited in future years. So making it less outlandish would fit. I'm sure they will still have a crazier top trim tho.

Keep something in mind guys. Manufacturers sometimes have "test mules" that use bits and pieces from other models during the pre-production test phase. Could that just be an Si Coupe wing on that red car? Hard to imagine the R losing it's trademark huge spoiler.

Ok. Got it. I didn't realize they were coming out with different variants.

Hopefully they'll do what the camo shows and reduce the size of the rear wing. Current one makes it look like a kid's racer. Don't think I'd want to drive to work in the current type R.

Two years ago, I attended the Skip Barber racing school with my two sons. One has a Civic Si. At the start of the classroom section, the instructor asked each person what kind of car they drove. When he came to my son, he said "does your Si have one of those ugly huge wings on it?". lol

Please don't post stuff like this so absolutely as if it's a fact. While this is pretty likely, no one knows but Honda.

I gotta say I don't like it for a Type R. If it were an Si hatch, to which the triple-exhaust says no, it'd make sense. Big wang or go home.

I drive mine to work every day and I’ve gotten nothing but compliments. I work at a financial institution too. Plus it’s great to break up the boring sea of cars in the parking lot!

To each their own. Still looks like it's over compensating. My preference is that "less is more". I like them subtle, not overt.

Then you’d never own a Type R in the first place. It’s not just the STi-esque wing that gives the R its functional aero. All those other “obnoxious” styling bits do too.

I reckon so.

It just looks like a "boy racer".

It's a 2019 base Type R alright. Benjamin says so:
