Probably because it's BS.

Is that a MAF sensor? What's the purpose of that?

Looks more like a fancy washer to pull the MAF out of the air stream. Like an O2 defouler.

Crawford has been around for awhile and family business too, met the familys daughter at a trackday a few years back. My question is how does it function, how could it improve fuel econ and performance by just re-positioning the MAF?

I assume by pulling the sensor out of the center of the intake, it makes the car think there is less air than there really is, so it lowers the fueling to compensate. So, this thing just makes your car run lean? No thanks.

Yeah I don't see how pulling the MAF away from the air flow would increase performance. Like you said, I could see it reducing fuel and performance .

Running lean can increase power, but this is a dumb way to do it.
