I haven't had the chance to jack up my car, but I noticed a leak near the driver side axle. The driver side popped out while putting on lowering springs, but I don't see any noticeable fluid near the boot. I'm thinking it might be the oil seal, #28?

Droplet looks to be the source?

hi. i have lots of experience with FWD drive axles on my racing car (EG honda hatchback W/K24/20 engine swap). it's unusual for the axles to 'just pop out'; how much force were you pulling on it when it popped out? the axles (at least on all my other hondas) are retained in the transmission with a big spring circlip; you typically have to pry on the inner CV with a big prybar to break them free. and then when you want to re-install the axle you have to jam it back into the transmission quite hard until you hear it SNAP loudly back into place. i'm guessing that you didn't reseat the axle back into the transmission all the way most likely. get under there and try to pull the inner CV back out of the transmission (if its installed right it won't come out at all just by pulling on it with your bare hands). if it moves towards you then you have to get it to snap back in all the way. after you've accomplished that you need to top off the trans fluid as obviously some has leaked out.

I’m having the same exact issue. When placing spoon springs in, the CV axle came out of the trans when we lowered the knuckle. (Light force). Did you ever figure out the issue? Trans seal?

Yeah, I had to replace the seal for the driver axle since it popped out.

resurrecting this thread...
Does anyone have the part # for that FK8 driver's side axle seal? my driver's side axle just popped out while installing springs, and a very thin, long wire looking springcame out along with it. I'm guessing it's part of that oil seal that keeps it tight.
