I just replaced my stock 20's with 19" Motegi MR924's and Continental DWS 06.
I went from 245/30ZR20 (90Y) XL to2 45/35ZR19 (93Y) XL.

At factory PSI (35), road feel felt reduced and the car felt like it was floating. I increased to 38, same deal. At 32, there was more road feel.

I could be completely off my rocker here, but is there a rule of thumb here as far as the proper pressure to run on a non stock size?

Thanks!

I’m running almost the exact setup as you, except my DWS06 is 255/35/19. Compared to stock, big difference in turn in and road feel. But that should be expected when changing from summer rubber band tires. I run my tires at 35psi which is where I feel they have the best road feel and turn in. I can tell when the psi drops to 31ish as the car feels floaty.

Ok thanks for confirming that bit. I also discussed this with another member who is running a similar setup. This morning during my commute (after setting the PSI to 35 last night) the road feel was fine. Maybe not as firm as the rubber bands, but I felt more confident driving it. May also be related to lack of sleep. :spaz:

At this point everything is good with the new tires as far as grip, road feel, etc... at 35psi. Was reading on TireRack that there is technically a "break in period" for new tires as well. Seems to make sense to me right now. :)
