Does my car battery look normal?

2016 Civic EX, had it since July 2016 and 42500 miles on it.

Normal - just remove and clean with wire brush (battery bottle brush) and baking soda/water; reinstall and cover with grease or Petroleum Jelly.

I agree that it is just normal corrosion. However... maybe take the opportunity to replace the battery since the OEM ones were cheap. Yours is 3.5 years old now. It is in the twilight of its life span.

Also... be careful loosening the battery connectors. Some folks unscrew them too far, the locking nut comes off of the bolt, and it is lost forever into the abyss of the engine bay.

Lots of Baking soda in a bit a water, like 1 teaspon od baking soda on 1/2 cup of water

Look under the red plastic housing too.

Let them dry before putting grease.

All battery and engine compartment need good cleaning. Did your car see a good mechanic over yesr ?

What brands do you recommend if I want to get the battery replaced?

I bought the Duralast Gold one from Autozone. It was the top of the line other than the AGM model (which I'm told to avoid for now).

See if you can talk the sales person into pulling a fresh one off of the back of the dispenser. The ones front and center are usually the oldest.

Every battery dealer give a warranty and battery could be cheaper.

maybe in my area Honda always comes out with the better deal with their 100 month warranty.

OP if you go to Honda and show that corrosion you will prob get a prorated deal on battery or if best a new one. Let us know how you make out.

I agree, no need to buy a new battery, just clean it and put grease on the contacts with a small brush.

Here's the after picture.

I'm going to wait until there are signs of slow start or any issues related to the battery then I will immediately buy a new replacement. But it is fine for now...
