Does any1 feel Honda will finally listen, and the 11th gen Si will be a huge improvement power wise?

I think Honda will maintain the incremental power increase pattern. With GM's and Ford's exit from the car market and focusing primarily on SUVs and trucks, Honda will seek to increase their market share in the small car market. They will need to keep the Si roughly in the $25K range to capture more former Fiesta ST and Focus ST drivers. If you want more power/performance, the Type R will be there.
hold up ... gm is going to stop making cars as well?? i thought it was only ford

I'm more interested in the STI revamp. I think for the money, this car is perfect. If Subaru puts out a new STI in 2020 with 350hp+, it will live alongside my SI.
This is a more interesting prediction. I would sonsider one if the fuel economy was the same or better with that bump in power. the 2.5 is tired and old... it needs to be modernized and made more efficient and powerful. If they do that AND make it look decent... I will consider trading the Si or giving the Si to the wife.

A bit off topic:offtopic:, but I wonder if the hillbillies in stockcar racing will be zipping around the oval tracks in SUVs, now that domestic cars are getting axed? Can’t see them switching to socialist foreign cars like Honda Audi etc

That’s what I hear. Their junky cars just don’t sell in the America’s. But they’ll still be building the sports cars. Gonna focus on suv/truck, electric and no driver autos. The Canadian GM plant getting the axe is just 5 miles away from me

these idiot inbreds will race anything in their pos domestics. they are very aggressive on the roads with their big gaudy pickups and suvs. watch those usa road rage videos on youtube and a large percentage of them are trashy hillbilly tards in their boats

I was reading an article that the average Chevy pickup truck sale nets 17k in profit. Compared to a sedan that nets 1-2k profit. Why make cars when one truck sale equals 8-10 car sales....

I fear Honda will do something that make the 11th gen worse by upsizing the civic into a bulkier car to satisfy the suv phase. I bet the civic si will weigh nearly 3100 when it comes out.

I think you guys are kind of figuring out where the auto market is headed in this thread, and Honda is no exception, they can make more money selling SUVs and pickups, I don’t think they’re going to pour a lot of money into R&D, etc. for Civic Si’s but rather more towards developing more SUVs and pickups, there’s more demand for these vehicles and more profit margin as well.

I understand the craving for additional power but I don't understand all of the criticism regarding the SI's acceleration - it feels plenty fast to me - and in my head, that is more important than the numbers. Even so, I live in an area with tons of twisty mountain roads to take advantage of, and often don't have leeway to floor it in certain sections as the car is simply too quick.

I came across a quote from a Honda engineer in an interview or article a while back that claimed the reason the 10th gen SI did not see a big power increase (besides engine longevity) was because the focus of the car is "precision."

All of this said, I'm coming from a 2011 Mazda3 2.5 (6-speed) that weighed 100 lbs more and had only 165 hp/165 tq. I frequently drive a friend's 306 hp Lexus RC 350 F-Sport and the SI feels quicker up until about 60 mph when the V6 takes off. I was also lucky enough to own a '00 BMW 540i and the SI feels about as torquey and powerful as that car, from what I can recall.

Honda already has plenty of cross overs and SUVs and even a "truck". I do fear they might axe coupes though.

I actually do think Honda will bump up the Si power slightly. But they would also bump the Type R as well if they were to do that.
But bumping up power also raises the price tag and the weight of the motor probably.
I'd actually prefer it if the car was instead lightened by using more aluminum on front body and on the roof. Better power/weight ratio, better weight bias and lower center of gravity. I would take this over more power anyday
No.

What is their incentive? If they wanted to increase sales, they would add an automatic, not hp. Could there be some "brochure" hp? a bump to 210hp? maybe.. but unless they kill off the CTR, they have their answer for those who want more HP. here.. step over to this model. I confess, the $25K price point is what makes the Si. .I feel you get a lot for that dollar amount compared to the Si competitors.

I think this is a real possibility unfortunately. Same with the manual transmission.

Teenagers don't even want cars anymore. Uber is cool and cars are for old conservative people.

that shits unbelievable. when i was a teenager (90s) every teenager coulnnt wait to get their license and drive. it was like the key to freedom.

of course that was a much different (better) time to live in. up to the early 2000s. i miss those years like crazy and what life was like back then *tear*
