[WARNING: JDM AS F*CK]
So I woke up this morning feeling more JDM than ever. I thought to myself, how do those 240SX drivers do it? The vape? The snap back? I tried all but still struggled and didn't achieve full JDMness. Then *ding, light bulb* it was the license plate. I had to side mount it. It was the only option. But you don't have to sacrifice your pretty new civic's body to look like these beauties, here is my DIY side mount bracket on my 2017 Civic Si. (p.s. it's sooo not worth the $20.)
See these holes in your fog light bezel? We're going to make use of those for our custom bracket.
Here's kinda what I came up with, 5/8 bolt through two big plastic washers (to grab the mesh on the bezel) with a nut on the end, (which will fasten the plate on later).
I found a thin metal plate that I cut to size, (the distance of the 2 holes on your license plate). I drilled holes for the 2 brackets so it will fasten to the front of the bezel.
(Excuse blood)
I then lined the license plate up with the metal plate to drill one more hole for the far right hole on the license plate.
5/8 steel drill bit (excuse my bad drilling, no one will see it anyways) (May want some cutting oil)
I added a slight bend in the metal to increase the distance of the pointy edge to the body of the car. (Also will elevate the license plate so it won't hit the body either when installed)
Drilled the final hole on the license plate so all three bolts on the bracket can go through it.
Finished product
I hope this helped you become JDM as F*CK.
