Just wondering if it was an oversight or if they just wanted to cut costs. It seems a little strange to keep the rear turn signals halogen at least on their upper trim models.

I don't think any Civic came with them, any trim. It's on the Accord though

It probably saved Honda a few bucks per car. I agree, on Tourings, it should be LED all around. Brake lights, too, not just the taillights.

no real benefit for turn signals but I swapped out my brake lights all around immediately with higher quality LEDs. There is a legit benefit with the increased response time/piercing light imo.

If you want to swap the rear blinkers you WILL need load resistors on each or you'll get hyper-flashing. Kind of odd they didn't use a flasher unit in this car to run front and rear..since the front is already LED.

In my 05 civic I just replaced the flasher unit (under the dash, by fusebox) with one that was LED compatible instead of installing resistors all the way around when I replaced those blinkers.

The Accord does not have rear LED turn signals. Also, it's a cost cutting measure. If the Acura MDX doesn't have em, I bet you the Civic won't

You know I never noticed this until a few days ago and thought my eyes were messing with me and I mislabeled a Touring for something else.

I honestly thought our brake lights were LED, not just the ambient "on" light.

Mind. Blown.

Stupid thing is that Honda very clearly lists it as having LED taillights...ignoring the fact that the actual "brake lights" are incandescent.

"The “C”-shaped LED taillights were designed to make a strong styling statement that’s uniquely Civic."

They are LED taillights - they're lights on the tail ( :p ), and are also referred to as Parking Lights.

Brake lights and turn signals, reverse lights are TECHNICALLY not taillights - although the term is used interchangeably in real life.

Anyway, if you're really inclined, you could easily rewire the rear end to make them your brake lights.

If it would cost them a few more dollars to have LEDs all around, I would gladly pay the commensurate price tag. If safety is a priority for Honda with these new Civics, LEDs are a relatively low expense.

i'm sure it'll be part of a mid model refresh...

as long as they don't make it like the LEDs on the 9th gen hybrid. Dots are annoying.
If it does happen, yeah please no dots. The LED dots look cheap, to me they're like the prototype version of LED tails lol.

Hopefully they'll just make more of the C-shaped LED bars and use those.

Not sure what happened but based on this spec sheet there should be LED brake lights on all trims. There sure weren't any LED brake lights on the EX-L I test drove a few days ago.

Semantics I suppose. Though,I read that to be full LED rear lighting.

I was dismayed pulling up behind another Touring and seek the early 90s center rear brake light.

And I blame you all for making me only see regular tailights when we brake now.

Evidently Honda meant LED lighting in the rear, but LED brake lights is unnecessarily misleading.
