There isn't really anything behind those vents to cool. They won't provide any additional airflow to the radiator and the air is just going to be hitting the backside of the fender liner. I just see it dropping aerodynamics and not really adding any benefit. :dunno:
I want to put an oil cooler in that space. Greddy or HKS.

I just cut out the right side to match and it does bring temps down a bit because both sides of the FMI are getting some fresh air. You can see XGEN ALLIANCE do the mod in this video.

That's perfect. I just want them to match.

Just stumbled on this today. Looks good having them cut out, but if anyone legit tracks their car, it'll hurt the front end downforce pretty significantly I would think

I’m slightly embarrassed to show mine because compared to @siwelnosaj, my work is nowhere as clean as his and I wonder how he approached this task doing such a great job opening up these vents.

I wanted to share my experience and pass on some of the things I learned doing this so others and try and hopefully come back to share their best practices with the group after trying to do this.

I used a box cutter and I would agree that it is pretty difficult to cut the plastic, especially when you need a certain amount of precision so you don’t mess up or nick the crap out of it. What I did that helped to a great degree was my wife’s blow dryer. I heated the backside and then cut along the lines on the front. Since the plastic was warm, it tend to cut a lot easier and I just repeated this process making 4 cuts for each diamond cutout.
Pro Tip: if you have good control, you can drastically decrease your time by starting a cut, then holding the cutter similar to how children hold their crayons when coloring on paper, and pull towards you. But be careful to stay within the lines and don’t cut over to the next diamond.

For what you see, it took me about 8 hours. The first 2 was very unproductive because I was trying to figure out the best way to do this and the other 6 hours I completed about 90% of what I ended up cutting.

I love the idea of making them real vents, especially with an oil cooler behind it. I hope someone sells a kit for this someday. A dual oil cooler setup would sure make my OCD happy, but it would probably be wasteful and inefficient. Then again, I do plan on tracking my car in FL, so I might actually be able to take advantage of that much cooling.

Here is my Top1 V2 vent covers. I cut the front and rear bump so it's both functional now.

Boosted180sx shared this tip to make vent cutting a piece of cake. Hot blade cuts through plastic like butter.
