clunks when braking (800 miles non aggressive driver)

Morning!

I have an issue. First time it popped its ugly head. The car has been sitting for the past week here in Jersey. It has gone through some extreme temperatures with snow and below freezing temperatures. First time driving it today. She started right up, but When I am applying the brakes, I am hearing a "popping" sound coming from the rear end. Continuous until coming to a complete halt. It's repeatable. I drove about 8 miles to work this morning and it was still present. I went to the dealership, but they want to charge me for a diagnostic right off the bat. Any ideas?

Did they say they would refund the charge if it is fixed under warranty?

If the problem happens every time can you record a video of the sound? Did you physically check your rear brakes?

sounds like your rotors got rusted. Pretty common. It usually goes away after a few miles though.

I think jakabony is right, drive it a while, I bet it goes away.

Thanks! Hopefully it goes away on my drive home. I would have left it, but they don’t offer loaner cars on diagnostics
