Curious to hear what others are seeing for oil temps in this car. Even with my HKS oil cooler I’m seeing temps around 250-260F

Are they holding steady around there or do you back off to let it cool down? Only other car I've ever had major issues with was my C5 corvette. Oil temps would go all the way up to 290+ but that was 100 degree summer track days and I'd back off to cool it off.

I’m still sending it at 250. It tends to stay steady there after a good 15-20 minute session. On the highway the car is doing 180-190F just cruising around 70.

I should mention it’s been rather cool, only 55F ambient temps

Thank ya, I just ask because that's next on my to buy list and want to make sure it actually works well enough. Think I am going with USR's but I image they all cool pretty similar.

If I can send it for a whole 15-20 minute session I'm happy

How do you like the HKS unit?
HKS unit has been great so far. It’s slightly better than the GReddy used based off of another owner saying he sees steady 260+ with his Greddy unit.

We will see how well it continues to hold up as it gets warmer.

I've been using Motul 300V 0W20.
Hello: Since your CTR is sees lots of track duty, did you consider a higher viscosity oil such 0w30 or 5w30?
If no/yes, share what steered you back to 0w20. Warranty concerns?

I am no oil subject matter expert, but unlike the U.S. owner's manual, the UK manual (including other no-US regions) specifically states that 0w20 is "formulated to improve fuel economy"; that if "Honda Engine Oil Type 2.0 0w20 is not available (which appears to be formulated for the CTR but only available in Europe), to use 5w-30 or 0w30. This makes makes me question if 0w20 is more for average street driving vs. the appropriate viscosity for track duty. Even if US manual states to use the appropriate viscosity for ambient temps.

Curious as to what the thinking process has been for the owners here with significant track duty.

I am no oil subject matter expert, but based on the fact that, unliked the US manual, the UK owners manual (and for other countries as well) more specifically states that 0w20 is "formulated to improve fuel economy"; further, that if "Honda Engine Oil Type 2.0 0w20 is not available (which appears to be formulated for the CTR but only available in Europe), to use 5w-30 or 0w30, makes make wan to consider a higher viscosity for the track.

Would like to know as well, I would assume 5W30 is a better choice

I switched to 5w-30. My mechanic who is also does HPDE suggested going 0w-40. The frequency is probably more important than the actual viscosity.

Thanks. I have seen people at least setup to a 0w-30 or 5w-30. I wish Honda would be more specific about track duty. I wonder what weight they were running during Ring testing in Germany.
