Did only my 2nd ever AX in this car ever at a local PCA event. Bone stock Si. Goodyear All season tires. Didn't really know where to be with Tire pressures, so jacked them up to about 40psi all around. Did the first run in sport with VSA off switched off. Not bad, but could already feel the computers kicking in. Looked up and performed the "Pedal dance" to fully disable. Car was a bit better response wise.. slightly better at rotating. Chopped down some time.
After all my overdriving ( ) my best was a 55.999. There were 2 other civics and several mark 7 GTi's who I deemed as my competition. One was a Gen 8 Si coupe with a bunch of stickers.. uh oh.. Koni shocks (double adjustables), R comp tires and a few other tweeks with an avid AX driver, but I couldn't hold it off. Lost to that Si by just about 1 second even. Then again, at this event, all Non Porsches are grouped in 1 big guest class.. where FTD went to a Lotus Exige at 49.9xx !
Admittedly, moving from Rear or Mid engine / RWD platforms I am used to, to a Front Engine/FWD was the biggest challenge. I kept wanting to drive it in a way that wasn't the quickest. Wanted to throw the car into corners and power out.. but usually kept going in a bit to hot and then out a bit too slow or maybe I need to mask my mistakes with R comp tires and beat more people
