I have a Moto Z3 and a Nokia 3310 (2017) every time I pair my phone via Bluetooth it works well but only for a little while. Eventually, after a day or two, the Bluetooth would connect but I won't be able to play music anymore. The device says it's still paired (if i use the Z3) but the only function that still works is the contacts and calling. The only way for me to play music again is to disconnect my device to forget the handsfree link and re-pair it again. It's only temporary a temporary fix.

Hm, I'm going to try it out since I usually plug it in while playing music. I will update to see.

EDIT: I'm at a loss here no luck. :(
