1.5" gave the exhaust a different tone, not loud but I can hear it better with some teeny pop and crackle.

Yes, in a sense, because cutouts allow you to have both a muffled and fully open exhaust installed essentially at the same time. This mod is kind of an in-between.

Not sure if there are any gains but I feel like it sounds a bit better than stock.

For a mod like this, the flow gains would be minimal. If you're worried about flow at that point, I'd go with a full muffler delete.

I believe someone (either Hondata or Vit) had said the stock exhaust on the SI was not yet a limitation and any aftermarket exhaust would only offer weight savings and a change in tone.
