my entire engine bay started shaking when I hit 115 while racing another car.

Any root cause for this? Could I have damaged the engine of the car? All looks and sounds just fine. No leaks. But it was sudden and violent. Didn’t go away until I was back in the 80 mph range.

You sure it was the engine ? It may also be improperly balanced tires or warped brake rotors .

You replaced your rear motor mount? Have you checked the front mount's integrity? Your brakes are still okay? What mileage are you at? I wonder if it's your CVT going out with all that extra power, since you mentioned it's been acting strangely. It tends to overheat more at sustained high speeds.

Why are you in the Si forum section? The Si was built to withstand such ludicrous speed levels.

I have an Si!

I don’t think it was the wheels. Mounts look to be intact but I haven’t seen the rear one. I have to get under the car.

Any root cause or Fitness of Use cases for why you were racing on a public highway? This is my un-scientific analysis of this, i think you found the limit for your car's body structure or chassis so it was a data point to reference.

What was the name of the track or strip you were on? What brand of helmet were you wearing? How much was the entry fee? Was there a cash reward for winning and if so, how much?

I don't know what the problem is, but I can tell you that I regularly drive on the autobahn at or above that speed, and have no issues.

MAYBE it wasn’t the engine but it sure felt like it.
How fast can you go now, before it starts shaking at all? It is most likely an out of balance wheel and tire assembly. You probably lost a wheel weight at 115 mph, which is why it started suddenly and persisted down to 80 mph.

Now it seems to start at 90.
