$31.5k USD. The Golf R starts at $30.5k USD in Canada so Honda is forced to compete with VW.

However, don't expect any correlation between that Canadian price and the USA price.

If the $42k CAD price is real, then the price in Canada with PDI, freight, taxes, and (gov't) fees is about $37.5K USD and that would be more comparable to what you might pay in the USA.

I wish I could afford the type R. Stuck with the sport! Honda along with HFP/HPD should offer type r performance parts for other hatchback trims, ie. adaptive dampers

did he seem to know that for sure tho, or just another salesperson speculating price again. Everyone at my dealership doesn't seem to have a clue on price other than low 40's, what Honda has already stated.

I'd be scared to see how much they charge for that system... But I doubt they would release type R parts intended for the base models. They don't even share the same wheel hub, true to type R form. Of course you can always buy factory parts and shoehorn them in, like the countless Integra "type R"s back in the day.

just wondering from someone in the know.... I haven't negotiated a lease in a while.. my current SI was a lease take over...

but is the residual amount negotiable? how much can u make your residual if the car ends up being $50K taxes/fees in?

or will the Type R even be negotiable with anything?

Why wouldn't it be?
I know the conversion is different from lets say 30,000 pounds to the US, something to do with taxes and regulations.

Not sure it would be cool if it was that cheap.
