I recently completed a long road trip and when cleaning my rims today I noticed some of the brake dust seemed to be caked on to the wheel. Has anyone tried any cleaner that won’t ruin the finish on the stock 20s? Thanks.

I’m a big fan of Sonax Full Effect cleaner. It’s not cheap but will dissolve brake dust with ease.

I use the old fashion soap and brush method. Takes a lot more time but works like a charm :)

Get them clean and do some DIY ceramic coating.
To get them clean, try some CarPro IronX, clay bar, then polish.

I second the use of the Speed Master Wheel Brush. Best brush I have ever used by far.
i dunno, i have one, but those small bristles flings stuff EVERYWHERE. feels like an overspray of water/brakedust all over me. Maybe it's my technique, but not working so great. I mean, it does clean, but those small bristles are like fling city.

Wheel woolie works the best for me.

nope it's definitely not just you. I love how it cleans the barrels but every time I pull out it flings the stuff back at you. Wheel woolie is definitely would be the choice if I was going to buy another brush.

I do it like this:

Pressure washer first---wheel cleaner----wait 3 minutes----pressure washer----wheel cleaner+microfiber sponge---presure washer---CarPro Hydro2 Lite---pressure washer

Yes, all painted wheels should be coated with some form of protectant every time you wash your car.
I agree! Just don't overspray onto the rotors! haha!
