Got in my car today and was greeted by the brake system malfunction message and I couldn't release the parking brake.

I noticed the button wouldn't even move so I got the flash light out and pointed it into the button...

Seems like I dropped a tiny little screw in here at some point and didn't realize it. Also interesting how much dirt and hair fell in here. Got the screw out with a pick and cleaned it out. Good as new.

Thus, why I’m not a fan of this switch vs. old school lever-style e-brake.

I had the same issue a few weeks ago -- Brake Switch Jammed, and would only move 1mm each way. (no dropped screw). wiggled it back and forth at least 50 times, and then it suddenly came free, and has been fine ever since .. (Touch plastic)
