Any way to have it on by default?
I don't know if it's the same on the R (I have an EX-L) but if I use brake hold during a drive, the next time I startup the car, it's still on.

I’ll need to try that out. Didn’t really pay too much attention to it

Nope it automatically disengages when you unbuckle your seat belt in the R

I’ll admit to hitting that button every time I start the car

return car to neutral
Hit ignition
Release parking brake
activate brake hold
Off we go

I never use brake hold, I hate it. But whenever I am sitting at a traffic light on a slight incline for more that 2-3 minutes, when I put the car into gear and let go of the brake, I don't roll back. It seems as if brake hold auto engages.

Maybe some of you guys can test this on your next drive?

Pressing the clutch pedal with the brake engaged and then releasing the brake will prevent the car from rolling back.

Yes to this. No need to use the hold button unless you need it longer than 2-3 seconds. On my 2017 Sti it was very aggressive and it would cause me to stall out sometimes. I ended up disabling it. They made it very confusing to disable as well.

Doesn’t the r have “hill assist”?

The Civic will automatically brake hold on an incline with the clutch in and the car in gear. Sometimes it might not trigger on a lesser incline, but once you start rolling backwards and hit the brake, it seems to activate on its own.
