I'm thinking about the best way to change the HKS intercooler to black with white HKS lettering.

The mishimoto black intercooler specs say it is powdercoated. I'm sure they, over at mishimoto, know a lot more about this stuff so I assume powdercoating the HKS is fine but just wondering if there are any cons to doing this.

Also, any photos of black intercooler on championship white CTR will be appreciated.

    Thanks

I was thinking to do the same but many ppl told me not to powder coat intercooler..
Proper way to do it is anodized but it costs more.

    Z06Chris,
Here is the Wagner Intercooler, in black... Ironically had originally ordered the HKS w/piping but the backorder became a little too long so switched to this.

Wagner didn’t come with stencils, so installed as is. Not an HKS but should provide an idea how black will look. This morning with the sun behind.

Turned the car around at lunch so sun hits it.

Thanks man, I understand your pain, heh..waited patiently for a few months...would probably still be waiting if Jacob didn’t get the Wagners in. Was about the same price so was able to swap.

Apologies ..haven’t taken the plunge on Hondata or KTuner yet.. so don’t have a definitive way to measure...

Installed a couple weeks ago, then the weather cooled down significantly here in SoCal.

Will say the Wagner is pretty massive. A little bit larger than the HKS but uses silicone hoses instead of the hard pipe kit.

This is my first turbo car and aftermarket IC so the only thing I noticed was turbo lag seemed to increase abit after it was in... so was underwhelmed. Probably to be expected with the increase in volume.

Then did the ACT sensor mod and now the car seems more responsive than its ever been..

Just spray it black with paint imo. Then white on top

What is the advantage of the HKS over the Mishimoto, Perrin, or PRL options? Genuinely curious.
